Some people would say that when it comes to writing, no one can really claim to be an expert. You may have had years of experience in writing school research papers but you will never be able to fight that uncomfortable feeling once you are faced with writer’s block. When you stare at a blank sheet of paper for hours (which may even turn to days) and no amount of motivation or inspiration strikes you, then you’ll know you’re going to have the hardest time finishing that term paper on time. It may not even be a term paper. It could be as simple as a blog post or a book review for school, but it’s all the same. When you have no ideas between your ears, there’s nothing for you to start with.
Somewhere along the way, most of us who seek out a career as a good writer imagine ourselves someday being a Hemingway, Edgar Allan Poe, or even a regional best-selling author. We have the ideas, the characters, a plot, but, as Peggy Lee sang, “Is that All There Is?” No, it is only a start.
A writer with writer’s block is often depicted in the movies as a tortured soul staring at a blank computer screen, unable to create. Sometimes the two words “Chapter One” are on the screen, but nothing more. The viewer instantly feels very sorry for this poor creature.
Another good reasons are protection and advancement. If you want to go farther in your job field than a teacher then you need to have more education. School and district administrators need to have higher degrees. If teaching at a college level interests you, then you need to have at least a master’s degree in education. Not only can you advance in your current job, you also have more job openings available to you if you have to leave your old job. Having that added degree will also make you more attractive if your school district has to make cuts.
Sometimes you find yourself opening your emails, reading blogs, stumbles around interesting and not-so-interesting websites, playing games, or chatting with your friends. All of these in the hope that you might bump into something and come up with your research topic.

In keeping with this theme, the next thing you want to see is some diversity of work. While it isn’t that important if the potential writer has never written for your unique type of business or topic, it is a good sign when they have created copy that spans a variety of topics. It shows that your writer can adapt themselves to any situation, and is willing to research your particular information if necessary.
Some people actually find online education fulfilling. You can be comfy and relaxed when studying. No need to dress up for school or perhaps have trouble finding a parking spot in the packed parking lot. Education is easier online.
If you want to become a professional writer, you must take on marketing responsibilities. You must be prepared to sell yourself. No one else knows your work as well as you do, no one else love your work as much as you do, no one else will be able to sell it as well as you can. What is going to put your writing over the top is if you take the necessary steps to make yourself known to an audience. Make an audience want to read your writing. They have so much to choose from, why should yours stand out to them?
The Internet may not have many credible literary sources specific to your topic on it (but it does not hurt to look), but it may have bibliographies that that can point you to good sources. Also, academic libraries provide their students with electronic research sources for writing papers and for other purposes. One of the best sources for writing literary research papers is JSTOR.
